RESULTS IN WEIGHT LOSS AND CHARITABLE GAINS

Weight Watchers Donates $500,000 to Two Hunger Fighting Organizations As Members and Subscribers Lose Weight

NEW YORK, NY (November 25, 2013) – As part of the company’s continued fight against hunger and obesity, through the Lose For Good Campaign,Weight Watchers announced today that it will donate $500,000 to hunger fighting organizations Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign®and Action Against Hunger. The Lose For Good Campaign is an annual initiative that allows members to fight global hunger and chronic malnutrition by losing weight and participating in social media activities. This year, Weight Watchers members and subscribers lost an estimated two millionpounds over the four week campaign.

During this year’s campaign, 680 local food drives were also conducted at Weight Watchers meeting locations across the country. Since the campaign’s inception in 2008, more than sixmillion pounds of food has been donated to area food banks, while members and subscribers have lost an estimated 22 million pounds.

“Our teams and members like to get creative, and over the years we’ve seen donations in the amount of food equivalent to their weight loss success,” said Stacey Hubbard, Senior Vice President of Field Operations, Weight Watchers North America. “It’s such an ‘a-ha’ moment for us all when we can see or even lift the weight we have lost, and that our loss can translate into someone else’s gain is really motivating.”

On September 23, Weight Watchers invited its social community to participate inthe annual,one-day initiative, Lose-A-Palooza. This year, Weight Watchers is donating $50,000 in honor of the social actions people took that day on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram, as part of the greater Lose For Good donation.
Since the inception of the campaign in 2008,Weight Watchers has donated $5.5 million to its two partner hunger-fighting organizations. The funds donated tothe No Kid Hungry campaign help efforts to end childhood hunger in America by connecting children in need with healthy food where they live, learn and play, while contributions to Action Against Hunger continues to fuel the organization’s efforts to eradicate childhood malnutrition in globally.
